The Static Silence album was released just over a week ago and has all but sold out.
All is not lost though, you should be able to find copies from either Tonevendor (very soon),
Norman Records &
Smallfish Records (now!)... here's what the latter two have written about it...
Smallfish Records
The fifth release in Distant Noise's series of CDr's comes from The Static Silence. Apparently begun in 2002 it was finished in 2008 and, in my opinion, it's a bit of a treat. For those that like Seefeel, Slowdive or MBV, there's definitely something to enjoy here as the guitars roll along over slow beats and have an earthy, yet distant feel. The female vocals are breathy and lush with an alluring honesty to them. A great little label with a limited run of 100 copies for each release... get in there quick!
Norman Records
The Static Silence: Found (Distant Noise) Recalls the stately grandeur of of my recent faves Beach House, the ambient atmospherics of the recent shoegazing revival and the blue toned, sparkling productions of Robin Guthrie. Across seven tracks-started by one member, completed by another, there's what sound like synthetic drum programmes, tremelo and FX laded guitars. The addition of female vocals low in the mix bring a kind of mournful edge to proceedings on track three. Overall, it flits from shoe to navel in it's reflective approach. If you like the Cocteau Twins style of post-punk, pre-goth angst then you'll appreciate the hard to fathom dull glow. Kinda of enjoyable for miserablists. Limited to 100
I'll be back soon with the info on our next release......... 100% Air Formation.

March already..... Sorry for the lack of communication on this page, in truth there's not been much to report. However, as always there are various things in the pipeline which I hope to be able to share with you soon. In the meantime you may be interested in the Air Formation related info below.
Last year I recorded a solo album called 'Arundel', I'm proud to say this will be released by Drifting Falling on March 11th, You can pre-order now from here (
www.driftingfalling.com) where you'll also be able to listen to a few tracks that aren't up on my myspace site... (

In 2002 I started a collaboration with Rachel Goldstar (Experimental Aircraft) which we named 'The Static Silence', 6 years later our debut album nears completion and is due to be released on Bristol's 'Distant Noise Records' in May 2008, it will be the 5th in a series of limited releases that included 'Jessica Bailiff', 'Yellow 6', & 'Luga' to name a few... I highly recommend you check out Distant Noise (

That's all for now.

Here's an update on our latest goings-on.
The wonderful reviews and feedback for
Daylight Storms continue to roll in, thanks to those of you who picked up a copy.
In the coming months Club AC30 will be releasing our new single
It's Over Now/Formation 2. It will be released on ltd 7" vinyl/download and was recorded with Pat Collier right at the end of last year. This for me draws a line under our
Daylight Storms phase as
It's Over Now was originally intended for the album but was never recorded during the session... More on that soon.
Also...
Some of you may be aware that during a short break I found time to record what I can only describe as a 'solo album'. The album is called
Arundel and will be released on
DriftingFalling towards the end of the summer.. It's a fantastic label and I'm really looking forward to being a part of it.
And...
I've received word that
The Static Silence album will be released in the near future. This is the project between myself and Rachel Goldstar (Experimental Aircraft, Eau Claire) which was started about five years ago and never completed.. until now.
Distant Noise Records plan to release this sometime next year.
Of course Air Formation remains my sole focus and I continue to work on a bunch of songs I hope will form the next album.
That's all for now.............

Well... February was a busy month by Air Formation standards.... 5 gigs and a live radio session all in 18 days, may not sound much but that was more than we did in the whole of 2006.............................
These gigs have been the most enjoyable we've ever done, and all came to a fittingly noisy end at our hometown show at 'The Hope' last night... Thanks to everyone who came along to the shows to see us, we hope you enjoyed them as much as we did.....
Then we come to the album......
Thank you all so much for your kind messages and comments, keep 'em coming, it's a big part of what keeps us going.... I think we raised the bar pretty high with this one, where do we go from here????
If all goes to plan there will be another new Air Formation release later this year.....
